Introduction

The mining lease area is located in village Deojhar in Champua Sub-division of Keonjhar district of Orissa State representing a part of the eastern limb of the famous horse-shoe shaped iron ore belt of Orissa and Bihar. An area covering 34.365 ha. was granted mining lease in favour of Sri.N.Patnaik on 17.01.1994 for a period of 20 years. The lease was executed on 05.09.1994. The ownership was transferred from Sri N.Patnaik to M/s Tarini Minerals (P) Ltd vide Government proceedings No III(A)SM-51/96-6923/SM dated 15.07.1995. The mine was renamed as Deojhar Iron Ore Mine since then. However, prior to transfer of lease in the name of Sri N. Patnaik, mine was operational in the year 1993.
